La mejor fiesta

Last weekend I helped throw a fiesta for my 2nd cousin, Bryan and his new wife Wendy. It wasn't my idea(wish that it was because it was soo good), it was my friend Pauls (my co-host). He had the idea to throw them a party since they had a small wedding and all their NYC friends couldn't celebrate with them(how thoughtful!). It was REALLY fun. The party was a complete sucess. We even had party games- a pinata and instead of pin the tail on the donkey, we went with pin the Bryan on the Wendy. The unveiling of that game was a highlight, people were shocked to the point of silence...hahaha. Here are a few pics of the fun.

Noteable sightings

So it's my first day at the new job. So far so good. I haven't actually done work yet- I am just working on learning the account. Reading old documents and stuff. Anyway... that's beside the point. The U.N. is in session today and I just went out to grab some lunch and I saw Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (Iranian President that everyone is protesting) and Barack Obama. Crazy. I love it.

Sierras, Sierras

While I was home my family (minus Emily) went backpacking in the Sierras. It was gorgeous. The funniest part of the hike though was that I had cell service at the camp. Hmmm....okay, I'l cool with that, I think. The hike was pretty good, nice uphills and a swtichback or two. The Lake was the most awesome of all. It was PERFECT for swimming and another camper had rigged up a rope swing into a deep part of the lake. You could also cliff jump. I could barely bring myself to the rope swing let alone the cliff jumping (though I have done that before- once is enough). Apology for the picture: I didn't look so pretty on the hike. I am okay with that though, because it was super hot and dusty and you aren't supposed to look pretty while you are hiking.

More fun from my week at home

One thing about my new job that I am really excited about it that I will be working on Sports Sponsorships for the Bank of America...the official Bank of Baseball. Now, I am not the kind of fan who watches all the games, knows all the stats, players, etc...but of all the professional sports nothing says summer fun like a baseball game. I really love going to them. When I was home I went to a Giants game and an A's game. The A's game even had a fireworks show at the end! Anyway here are a few pictures.

Scrubbing, Pills and Love Songs

Okay so a few posts ago I was "tagged" and reported to you, the reader, some of my quirks. Well I am in the middle of one of my quirks right now and thought I would follow up on my blog with a post. It's about 1 in the morning. I have work tomorrow. Why am I not going to bed you ask? Well I had to scrub my kitchen floor, clean out and scrub my fridge, wash all my dishes, take out my garbage...and I want to do more. Nightime cleaning frenzies for no reason whatsoever are one of my quirks. They don't happen a lot...but I blame them on my mother. She would do this. OMG- I am becoming my mother. Okay not really...just this one thing. Also sometimes to clean thoroughly you have to make a bigger mess than you started with. I am in the middle of that right now. Everything is out of place so that I could clean where it normally lives. I think I am going to have to finish the kitchen tomorrow. I just want wipe out all the cupboards tonight. So I guess tomorrow will be bathroom cupboards, then onto the closets and under the bed....and finally the files!

A few other quirks I didn't post about just for fun:

1) I hate swallowing pills. If you ever see me taking tylenol or something you know that I must be in real pain because I HATE SWALLOWING PILLS. I even still buy children's chewable vitamins. That's right. Call me a baby.
2) From grades 5-12 I fell asleep every night to the soft rock station- because it was nighttime it was a program called "Love Songs After Dark". I got to know a lot of the cheesy love song classics quite well because of it (Lady in Red, anyone?) Sometimes I still have to fall asleep to music- and I won't lie, there is a soft spot in my heart for cheesey love songs.

I think I will have to put on some tonight to get to sleep.

Archie

When I went home last week I got to play with my family's dog, Archie. He's the cutest dog ever.... I want a dog so bad. I can have one in my apartment, but it just wouldn't make sense to get one and never see it because I am not home enough to take care of it. Anyway....I am going to post a pic of Archie so everyone can see how cute he is. He's a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and he's about a year old. While I was home I got him to sit, lay down and roll over really well... all with contraband enticement: people food. Hee hee... I know I am naughty, but he is just TOO cute! I want one!

Best News Story of the Day

Since I am somewhat of a "lame duck" now that I have given my 2 weeks notice at work (for those of you who haven't heard- I am switching agencies...following on of my favorite bosses ever to go work on Bank of America across town), I have time to do some important things in life: read ridiculous news stories. This one caught my eye and might be the most hilarious thing I have read in awhile- Read Story Here. The article is about a police officer who arrested a McDonalds employee for serving a burger that was too salty which made them sick. Seriously... can we talk about abuse of power there? That's ridiculous! My favorite part of the article was when the manager says something along the lines of "if the burger was too salty, why would you eat the whole thing- wouldn't you know in the first bite?" hahahahahahaha....soooo classic!

U.S. Open Women's Final 2007

So the culminating summer of tennis experience happened this past weekend: I attended my first U.S. Open Tennis Match. It just so happened to also be the Women's Final. Warn came with me as The Shanna Show was unable to make it to town. The game was good (when I originally bought tickets I thought I was buying Men's tickets so I was a little bummed NOT to be seeing Federer who I have an absolute crush on). Henin is amazing and won in straight sets. Overall a great experience...definitely the classiest sporting event I have ever been to.
