Play me a song your the Piano Man

So Monday night I was taken to a Billy Joel concert at the Garden by People Magazine. It's one of the sweet perks of my job (I am trying to decide right now if the perks though are actually worth it: no offense Billy, I thought the concert was great!). So our seats were fun, we were in the Sports Illustrated Box (which since People Magazine took us, I assume is actually the Time Inc. box). Which means- it was catered, we could walk around, have our own private bathroom and an unobstructed view. We were far away from the stage though, but I think most people were, I mean the concert WAS in MSG. Anyway- back to the concert. It was great. I grew up listening to the tunes of Billy. My dad likes to tell a story about how he saw him perform in a small venue before he made it big. Pretty much the first half of the concert, I didn't know any of the songs, but then he got into the classics that I know and love: We didn't start the Fire, Movin' Out, New York State of Mind, etc. He ended the concert by playing the Piano Man. It was awesome. The whole crowd was singing the line "Play me a song your the Piano Man, play me a song tonight- cause we're all in the mood for a melody and you've got me feeling alright." This was a huge chorus... a sold out show at MSG. We weren't half bad. Billy did a great job for being such an old rocker. Maybe his new 25 year old wife is keeping him young. He danced all over the stage and even tossed the mic around. Rock on, Billy. The New York Times did a proper review that can be found here.
