I make a mean cheeseball. Just ask any number of my friends that have ever tried it. It is delicious. It's also a secret family recipe. Secret, but not fancy or all that crazy. My Grandma is the one who made it up, I think. She was quite the cook and decorated wedding cakes for a period in her life (something that I aspire to learn as well).
Recently, I have made my cheeseball quite a lot. Each time, I get rave reviews and people asking for the recipe. I kind of like having this secret recipe that is just mine. :-) Actually, even my mother sometimes forgets the recipe and has to ask me to remind her what it is (it's not written down). In my recent cheeseballs, I have even been missing one of the ingredients, and one of the ingredients is so hard to find, I had to buy a bunch of it in CA when I was home because I can't find it in Manhattan!
My cheeseball got me thinking about what other foods I can make really well... Here is a list of my specialties:
Cupcakes
Banana Split Supreme
Lasagna
Chicken Cordon Bleu
Peanut Butter Bars (thanks to my friend Makeout Bandit, it's her recipe)
I think I need to branch out a little more. I really do like cooking, but it's lame to cook just for me, and it's pretty expensive to have dinner parties all the time (not to mention the pressure of making something delicious). I had a friend once offer to buy all the ingredients to dinners if I would cook it for him...too bad I didn't take him up on that.
