Tonight I am going to attend an exhibit opening at the Cooper- Hewitt Design Museum. I haven't been to this museum yet- so I am really excited. I was invited to go by my Smithsonian Magazine rep (the museum is a Smithsonian museum). I am really excited. I love stuff like this. Even my friend Bees is going to be off work in time to go... it's shaping up to be a good night.
The exhibit is "Rococo: The Continuing Curve". I'm sure I will want to re-do my apartment after going. I have already sort of been feeling that way anyway (why do I get so restless?- see gorgeous bed pic here- so romantic looking, if not a bit ridiculous). I was pretty sure that I remembered what kind of style Rococo was based on my old Humanities classes...and I was thrilled when I checked on wikipedia that I was right. It's a combination of a french style incorporating shells, and rocks with the Italian Baroque style. Very girlie looking....very frilly. Think Versaille.
The museum itself is in an old Carnegie mansion on 91st and 5th. I have always walked by and thought it was a beautiful building.
Seriously- as much as I complain about my job, I love the perks...an art exhibit- AND one of my favorite reps took me to lunch today at Metrazur- a Charlie Palmer restaurant in the Grand Central Terminal...I love Grand Central, it's so gorgeous.
