So many of you may know that I started a new job about 5 months ago. Well...I have quit that job and am going to start a new one on St. Patty's Day. Before you all go judging me for being the world's worst and most fickle employee, let me just tell you what's been happening here.
The Background
I started working at Prometheus/OMD (part of Omnicom) on Bank of America in September. I was brought over by my favorite boss of all time- Suzanne. Taking the job was a no- brainer, I would be making more money, be working with Suzanne again, and cutting 30 minutes off of my commute. Life seemed good. Then right after enjoying a lovely Thanksgiving in Mexico, I came back to the office to find that the account had been put into review (for those who don't know what that means- basically it's when the client puts you on warning that they might be firing you). The honeymoon period was over. Suddenly my days became very depressing and everyone working on the account started getting very anxious. My assistant had quit just weeks before, and given the state of the account- a new one would not be hired...not to mention that we were supposed to have hired a planner but that hadn't happened either by the time we were put under review. So... there was a lot of work and not a lot of people to do it. You do the math. So after Christmas, I decided that I needed to take control of the situation. I began casually looking at other options- just to see what else was out there. Well, I found something.
The New Job
My new job is at an agency called Mediavest (part of Publicis) and I will be working on the UBS account (it's a Global account- which is very exciting for me). I know some of you are thinking that I must have some obsession with financial advertising(and actually I do like it SO much better than packaged goods)...but I am not going to lie- I have thought about a future possible move to the client side, and financial marketing definitely has it's perks (an industry of bonuses). With taking a job working on UBS I will be adding to my growing experience in the financial field... I have worked on almost all kinds of financial businesses prior to this: Insurance, Retail Banking, Small Business Banking, Credit Cards, and Mortgages. I really liked the managers that I met with during the interviewing process and have been told that I will have 3 planners and an assistant to manage myself (a full staff!! Excellent!). Additionally, the client is in the city (2 blocks away) so there will be no need for business trips (though I do love staying at hotels...just would always prefer it were a vacation instead of a business trip).
Overall, I am thrilled...though a little sad to be leaving all my friends at OMD so soon. I hope that Bank of America ends up staying there for their sakes- it was such a good team!
